Packaging Tips
  • Seal your box with plenty of strong packing tape. These packages have a long journey ahead of them!
  • Cover your address and your soldier's address with clear tape to protect them from the elements.
  • Do not ship food and scented toiletries together. No one wants soap flavored cookies!

What do I use for city and state in the address?

Use the address exactly how it was given to you. The post office will properly route your package based on the zip code and unit information in the address.
How long does it take for my package to arrive?

1-2 weeks on average. It depends on your trooper's location relative to the mail distribution center.
Where can I get boxes?
Box

You can obtain free Priority Mail boxes three ways:
  1. Order Online
  2. Call Customer Service at 800-527-1950 or 800-610-8734
  3. Pick up from your post office

There are two Flat Rate boxes which cost $8.95 to ship regardless of weight

Flat Rate Box-O-FRB1
(11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2")

Flat Rate Box-O-FRB2
(11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8")

You can obtain free Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes three ways:

  2. Call Customer Service at 800-527-1950 or 800-610-8734
  3. Pick up from your post office
What does it cost to ship a non-Flat Rate box?

You can use the domestic rate calculator here to obtain rates. Depending on what you are sending, it is sometimes more economical to ship two Flat Rate boxes instead of one large package.
What paperwork do I need?

You will need a Customs Declaration, form CP 72

You can obtain this form three ways:
  1. Order Online
  2. Call Customer Service at 800-527-1950 or 800-610-8734
  3. Pick up from your post office
You can also fill out this form Online and print the completed version on your printer.

How do I fill out the Declaration form?

Provide a list of package contents including quantities and their approximate weight. Place a value of approximately $20 to discourage theft.
